Project Description

• The blog
• Use your school gmail account to create a new blog.  Create a title for the blog.  Make sure your name and hour appear somewhere.
• Look at the example on Ms.Peterson/Mrs.Wilcox’s website if you have questions about how to make the blog.
• Research the 9-Point Circle and present the information in the blog.  These are the separate posts you must have:
• History of the 9-Point Circle
• Discovery (who and how the circle was first discovered)
• How to Construct (not a step-by-step in-depth guide, just key points of the construction)
• What I Learned (what you learned as you were constructing, what was difficult, what you thought was cool, etc.)
• Sources (three sources, including title of the website, title of the article, and the actual address for each)

• The construction of the 9-Point circle – includes two parts:
• Construct the 9-Point circle using a compass and straight edge on a blank piece of 8.5” by 11” paper that is NOT lined.
• Draw an acute scalene triangle.  Side lengths should range between 10 and 17 centimeters.
• Show all the construction marks used to find each point and label all points with capital letters.
• Create a key that identifies the names of segments and points as they relate to chapter 5 (medians, altitudes, etc.).

• Copy the 9-point circle
• Make a copy of your construction using a photocopier, scanner, or simply by tracing onto another paper.
• Use many different colored writing utensils to trace the key components, NOT the constructing arcs and irrelevant segments.
• Create a key for the colored parts.

How to Present Your Results

Your blog should have all five posts listed above.  In addition, you should have two posts for constructions: one post should be a picture of the original construction and another post should be the color-coded picture (see sample blog for ways to get the picture on your blog).  So in total you will have SEVEN posts in your blog.  You will turn in the hard copy of the original construction, the copied construction, and the rubric.

See the rubric for information on grading.  Double check the rubric before this project is due to make sure you didn’t miss any important parts!

If you don’t want to make a blog …

You may write a formal paper answering the questions above.  Paper should be approximately 2 pages double spaced.  You should turn this in with the two constructions and the rubric in a folder.

How to Make a Blog

Alright, so to get started, you'll need to log into your school gmail account.

Account information here!

Next, go to blogger.com and create a new blog by clicking the "New Blog" button.  Make a name and address for your blog.  It should have something to do with the 9-Point circle!

To make a post, click the orange "New Post" button in the upper left hand corner of the page.  Read the project description to see what to put in each post.

To change the published time of each post, click the "Published on" box on the right.  This will allow you to put the posts in the order you want.  The oldest posts show up at the bottom of the page.

Once you have your content set, feel free to personalize the set up and design of your blog!  Make it easy to read and eye-catching.

Getting Pictures in a Post

Step 1: Get your picture saved on your computer.  Either:

• scan your construction and email it to yourself
• take a picture on your phone and email it to yourself (make sure the picture is of high quality!)

Step 2: Create the post, then click the "Insert Image" icon above.

Step 3: Select your picture and hit "upload" to upload your picture to the post.
